Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)
UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the UK Government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, conformity assessment bodies that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. It is a non-profit-distributing company, limited by guarantee, and operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry on behalf of Government as a whole.
UKAS has Members (instead of shareholders) who represent those who have an interest in accreditation - national and local government, business and industry, purchasers, users and quality managers. The present Members are:
